Republican Playbook Lists Maine as Key Target
PORTLAND- Yesterday, reporters exposed a confidential Republican National
Committee fundraising proposal, uncovering their plan to run "an
aggressive campaign capitalizing on 'fear' of President Barack Obama and a
promise to 'save the country from trending toward socialism.'"
The presentation lists Maine as one of the Republicans' top targets to pick up
a governor's seat this year. This means the same message of fear and negativity
that the GOP is using nationwide will soon be broadcast here in Maine.
The Maine Democratic Party calls on the Republican Party and its candidates to
refuse to accept RNC funds, as long as they are using fear mongering as a
campaign strategy.
"Maine voters won't stand for these vile tactics and shouldn't have
to," said Arden Manning, coordinated campaign manager of Maine Victory
2010. "The Republican Party has sunk to a new low and once again is
showing they are the party of no ideas, only fear. This type of politics at all
cost approach is exactly what Mainers are sick and tired of," he
continued. "I challenge the Maine GOP to do the right thing and for once
say no to something worth refusing."
