Michaud Mourns Death of Soldier from Maine

LEWISTON, METoday, Congressman Mike Michaud issued the following statement after learning of the death of Sergeant Brandon Silk of Orono, who died on June 21st while serving in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army’s 101st Aviation Battalion from Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sergeant Brandon Silk. Words cannot express the honor with which he served his country and the sadness and loss his family now feels.  Our state has a long tradition of coming together during a crisis, and I know the entire Orono community and all Mainers will join me in assisting Brandon’s family with whatever they need during this difficult time.  When we lose a soldier from one of our communities, we lose not only who they are but who they could have become.  This is a poignant reminder of the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice required of our service members and their families.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
