Rep. Michaud Statement on Korea FTA
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud, chairman of the House Trade Working Group, issued the following statement on the Obama Administration’s commitment to pursue the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement:
“This is another flawed NAFTA-style trade agreement negotiated by the Bush Administration for the benefit of big corporations and at the expense of the American worker. President Obama’s commitment to fixing the agreement is laudable if it involves reopening the agreement and fixing not only the market-access issues for American beef and car exports, but also the fundamental imbalances in our previously-negotiated free trade agreements. I look forward to working with the President to make sure that the final Korea agreement is changed in a way that will garner broad bipartisan support and represent a true 21st century agreement that benefits American citizens and corporations alike.”
