SUMMARY:Voter Protection Phone Banking
DESCRIPTION:Join the Maine Democratic Party Voter Access Team and help us build the team that protects the vote on Election Day! Whether you’re a returning volunteer or making your very first calls\, we’d love to have you. \nWhat we’re doing \nWe’re calling to recruit Poll Observers for the General Election on Tuesday\, November 3\, 2026. Poll Observers spend part or all of Election Day at a polling place\, helping voters access the assistance they are entitled to and flagging problems to our team as they arise. Every conversation is another set of trained eyes at the polls. \nNo experience? No problem! \nWe’ll provide everything you need\, including training\, a calling script\, and support throughout the event. \nReturning volunteers are encouraged to bring a friend and help welcome our newest team members.

SUMMARY:Early Processing Observer Training with the Maine Dems Voter Access Team
DESCRIPTION:Starting Tuesday\, October 27\, some Maine towns and cities will begin processing absentee ballots early. During the week before Election Day\, clerks open absentee return envelopes and put the ballots into the ballot box or tabulator\, instead of waiting until November 3. Maine law allows this\, and it allows the public to watch (21-A M.R.S. § 760-B). \nEarly Processing Observers are the eyes and ears of the Voter Access Team at these sessions. Your job is simple: watch\, take notes\, and tell us what you saw. You help make sure every eligible voter’s absentee ballot is handled correctly and counted. \nThe training takes about 30 minutes. Every session covers the same material\, so you only need to attend one.

SUMMARY:Get Out The Vote Phonebank for Maine Democrats!
DESCRIPTION:In the month of October\, we have to reach out to hundreds of thousands of neighbors to get out the vote and win this election\, and we cannot do it without you. \nThere are so many reasons to get involved right now. Whether you are struggling to pay your bills and need Elon Musk and other billionaires to pay their fair share. Whether you are fighting for a better future for your kids\, or your grandkids. Whether you are alarmed by the rise of fascism and are ready to do what needs to be done to protect democracy. Whether you are fighting against climate change\, against ICE\, against genocide and foreign wars\, or for abortion rights and freedoms of all kinds. You are needed. \nIt doesn’t matter whether you’ve knocked doors or made calls before — we start every event with a training and cannot wait to meet you!
