AUGUSTA, ME – Following an extensive search, the Maine Democratic Party has selected Devon Murphy-Anderson as its new Executive Director.

“I’m delighted that Devon is joining the leadership team of the Maine Democratic Party,” said MDP Chair Charlie Dingman. “She brings the experience of lobstering in Casco Bay in her youth, her lifelong enthusiasm for politics, and deep experience in Democratic party campaign and management roles. She has founded a thriving, year-round, voter engagement organization in Florida. We are excited about the combination of Maine roots and deep political experience that Devon brings to Maine Democrats as we meet the historically unparalleled challenges of this moment.”

Murphy-Anderson grew up lobstering on her dad’s boat in Casco Bay. At 15, she bought her first lobster skiff and launched her own small fishing business—an experience that fueled her commitment to equity and social justice as a young woman navigating a male-dominated industry.

After graduation from Guilford College in North Carolina, she dove into politics. She worked as the Finance Director on a New York congressional campaign in 2018 before raising a record-breaking $20 million as Finance Director for the Florida Democratic Party in 2020. She then co-founded Mi Vecino, Florida’s first year-round, boots-on-the-ground voter engagement organization.
