Augusta, MAINE -- Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement after President Trump and Congressional Republicans shut down the government, marking the first time in our country's history that one party in control of all branches of government has failed to keep it open.
“Republicans are in control of the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, and yet they still can’t manage to accomplish even the most basic task of governing: keeping the lights on.
"This is no way to run a country, and it’s unfair to Maine people who already have enough to worry about without the added anxiety of a dysfunctional government. Mainers deserve better than the failed leadership of President Trump and Bruce Poliquin.”
