In last night’s debate, Senator Collins affirmed that she has no regrets about her votes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, to pass a tax giveaway for corporations and the ultra wealthy, and to put health care at risk for more than 100,000 Mainers.
So, to recap:
- Senator Collins DOES NOT REGRET her vote that sparked the GOP lawsuit to repeal the ACA which threatens to triple Maine’s uninsured rate and strip over 100,000 Mainers of health care coverage.
- Senator Collins DOES NOT REGRET that after she promised Mainers that Brett Kavanaugh posed no threat to LGBTQ+ equality and would respect precedent with regard to reproductive rights he’s already issued a dissent in defiance of precedent to restrict abortion access and argued that a decision protecting LGBTQ+ Americans from employment discrimination was a “mistake of history and sociology.”
- Senator Collins DOES NOT REGRET that, thanks to her vote for the GOP tax bill, huge corporations like Amazon, Chevron and FedEx paid $0 in taxes, while tens of thousands of Maine families ended up paying more.
“More than 100,000 Mainers could lose their health care coverage because of a law that Senator Collins helped pass — and she says she has no regrets?” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra. “After decades in Washington, Collins has become beholden to her party leaders and the corporate special interests that are propping up her campaign and completely lost touch with the people she’s supposed to be working for.”
