Following the news that Trump’s Maine re-election campaign chair Paul LePage joined the president for his visit today, Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra released the following statement:
“Trump’s Maine re-election campaign chair Paul LePage joining him today proves what we already knew about the president’s intentions for his visit: Trump is exploiting the people of Maine for a thinly disguised political rally.
“With the nation still reeling from his disastrous and chaotic response to the coronavirus and with anti-racism protests continuing here in Maine and across the country, Trump and LePage are making a mockery of our hardworking essential frontline workers for political gain. They should be embarrassed for using Maine people like this to prop up the president’s re-election campaign.”
