Westbrook, Maine – While four Republican governors last week said the FBI should fully investigate the credible allegations made against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Republican gubernatorial candidate Shawn Moody refused to weigh in – showing once again that he can’t be trusted to take a stand or defend Mainers.
“I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not. Once again, Shawn Moody is refusing to level with Mainers when it comes to an issue that will affect their lives today and for decades to come,” said Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett. “Four Republican Governors have done the right thing and called on the FBI to investigate Judge Kavanaugh, but Shawn Moody couldn’t muster the courage to stand up and do the same.
“This is just another example of why Maine people can’t trust Moody—not only to be straight with them, but to stand up for them and their rights in the face of a Supreme Court that is going in the wrong direction. This is why we need Janet Mills as Maine’s next governor.”
Instead of telling Mainers where he stands on Kavanaugh’s nomination and the controversy surrounding his confirmation vote, Moody had his Campaign Manager, Lauren LePage, issue a statement dodging the issue: “Shawn Moody is not running to be part of Washington, D.C. Maine has two duly elected United States senators, and it is their decision to make.”
