Westbrook, MAINE - In case you missed it, Speaker of the House Sara Gideon penned an op-ed in the Portland Press Herald today calling out Governor LePage and House Republicans led by Representative Ken Fredette for using Mainers as pawns in a sad and misguided attempt to roll back the will of the voters. As Speaker Gideon wrote, in the face of these Republicans efforts, Democrats remain at the table and are ready to continue working on behalf of Maine people.
“Despite all his misleading statements, Gov. LePage is deliberately using our elderly, our intellectually disabled, our mentally ill, our hardworking small businesses and taxpayers as pawns in an attempt to roll back voter-approved livable wages.
“Nevertheless, House Democrats remain at the table. We will give House Republicans another opportunity to come back, finish their work and display the leadership Mainers expect by calling for a special session.”
