Westbrook, MAINE – Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement in response to Governor Paul LePage’s support of a lawsuit aimed at overturning the Affordable Care Act:
“Governor LePage’s support of this lawsuit is nothing more than a shameful, ideological push to strip tens of thousands of Mainers of their health care.
“Last November, Maine people sent the governor – and the Republicans hoping to succeed him – a clear message when they voted overwhelmingly to expand Medicaid: we want more health care, not less. He would do well to listen to them for a change, rather than throw his support behind this partisan lawsuit.
“I call on the Republican gubernatorial candidates to denounce this lawsuit and, instead, pledge to follow the will of Maine voters by implementing Medicaid expansion and working with Democrats to build on the successes of the Affordable Care Act and make health care more affordable and more accessible.”
