Maine Democratic Party Praises Former First Lady Barbara Bush

Westbrook, MAINE – Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement in response to the news that former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away this evening at the age of 92:

         “A paragon of dignity, Mrs. Bush represented the very best of the American spirit and continually reminded us through her inspiring example that politics is secondary to our shared humanity. The people of Maine are fortunate to have had her as our neighbor and as our friend, and, undoubtedly, we are better off because of her.

         “On behalf of Maine Democrats, I extend our deepest condolences to President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, and the entire Bush family during this difficult time. Mrs. Bush will be dearly missed.”
