Westbrook, MAINE – Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett released the following statement reacting to the Republican gubernatorial candidates’ speeches at the Maine Republican Party Convention today:

“Maine’s economic growth lags behind New England’s and the rest of the nation’s, good jobs with benefits are still too far out of reach for many Mainers, thousands of Maine children are living in poverty and going hungry, the opioid crisis continues to divide families and tear apart communities, and Augusta is paralyzed by dysfunction.

“But rather than offer new, serious solutions to these problems, Mary Mayhew, Shawn Moody, Garrett Mason, and Ken Fredette doubled-down on Paul LePage's failed policies and all but pledged to be four more years of his Administration.”

“While the Republicans try to out-LePage one another, Maine’s Democratic candidates for governor are working hard to put forward plans that will expand health care, grow a vibrant economy, create sustainable jobs with good benefits, and repair the damage that LePage and Republicans have done to our state’s government and our state’s reputation.”
