Westbrook, MAINE - In case you missed it, Roll Call, a Washington-based publication that reports on Congress, announced yesterday that it has shifted it’s rating of Maine’s 2nd Congressional District race from “Likely Republican” to “Leans Republican”, demonstrating that the race is becoming more competitive.

Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett issued the following statement, saying the race has shifted as a result of Congressman Poliquin votes to cut health care and because of his lack of accountability to his constituents:

“Congressman Poliquin is proud to have cast votes that jeopardize Mainers’ health care and that will lead directly to them paying more for coverage. He’s voted for tax policies that explode a hole in the national deficit and that prioritize the wealthy over working class Mainers. And he continues to enable the most corrupt Presidential administration in our nation’s history while ducking his constituents. So it comes as no surprise that folks nationally are taking notice of what we’ve known in Maine for a long time: that this race is competitive because of the real harm that Poliquin has done to his constituents and Maine Democrats will fight hard to see that the people of Maine’s 2nd District are treated better in Washington.”
