Westbrook, MAINE - Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett today congratulated Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap on receiving a Champion of Freedom Award from the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington, D.C.
The award recognizes Secretary Dunlap’s work as a member of the Presidential Advisory Commission, where he successfully fought back against the President’s unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud and sued the commission for operating secrecy. His lawsuit was a major a factor in the commission disbanding.
“Secretary Dunlap did his state and his country a great service by joining the President’s commission and working to hold it accountable. Despite attacks, he stood up to the President when the commission's work wasn’t passing the straight face test and he fought to ensure that facts and the truth won the day,” Bartlett said. “Secretary Dunlap is more than deserving of this recognition, and Mainers should be proud to have him as their Secretary of State.”
