Former Representative Joe Perry of Bangor was nominated by Bangor and Orono Democrats who attended the nominating caucus on January 15
Augusta, MAINE - At a caucus of Bangor and Orono Democrats yesterday, Joe Perry, a former State Legislator, was chosen as the Democratic nominee for the House District 124 special election.
Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra congratulated Perry on his nomination.
“It’s clear that Joe has deep support in his community, and I know he’s ready to get to work and help solve the problems people in Bangor and Orono are facing. From addressing health care costs to funding our school, Democrats are ready to deliver for Mainers, and I know Joe’s knowledge and experience will go a long way in helping us do just that.”
Perry, who served in both the Maine House of Representatives and Maine Senate, is eager to join Democrats in Augusta, who took control of both the executive and legislative branches after the 2018 elections.
“It’s honor to have earned the support of my fellow Democrats, and I’m excited by the possibility of representing all of the good people of District 124 in Augusta once again, said Perry. “Democrats in Augusta are ready to move forward with an ambitious, forward-looking agenda, and I can’t wait to be a part of it in the Maine House.”
The special election is scheduled for March 12, 2019.
