After weeks of claiming her role as a potential juror makes it impossible for her to answer Mainers’ questions about  the ongoing impeachment inquiry, Politico reports Senator Collins will join Donald Trump for lunch where the subject comes up -- a part of the president “aggressively courting Senate Republicans” to bolster his own defense. 

 

The meeting is a dramatic shift in her stance and she should disclose the meeting topics, as well as answer the following questions: 

 

  • Is it appropriate for a juror to dine with a potential defendant prior to a proceeding?

 

  • What did she think of yesterday’s testimony from Ambassador Sondland in which he confirmed that “everyone was in the loop” about Trump’s quid pro quo?

 

  • Is she planning to support President Trump for reelection in 2020?
