As we approach the two-year anniversary of Senator Collins’ vote for the GOP tax bill, Maine Democrats will highlight how Senator Collins put corporate special interests ahead of hardworking Mainers in a series we’re calling the “12 Days of Corporate Tax Giveaways” ☃️
Exactly one month before Senator Collins voted for the GOP tax bill, her leadership PAC received $5,000 from Charter Communications’ Corporate PAC. The investment paid off for Charter Communications; thanks to the Collins-backed bill, they received a $9.3 billion tax break.
Unfortunately for Senator Collins’ constituents, under the new law tens of thousands of families in Maine have seen their tax bills rise. The GOP tax bill raised health care premiums and imposed a marriage penalty on Maine families. While corporations like Charter Communications saved billions, many hardworking Mainers ended up paying more.
“Senator Collins’ vote for the GOP tax bill was bad for Mainers” said Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “We need a Senator who puts us ahead of corporate special interests, and that means voting Collins out in 2020.”
