Collins will be hiding out in Washington and meeting with donors while Trump brings his divisive rhetoric to Maine
Senator Susan Collins told Mainers that she’ll be working in Washington during Trump’s visit to our state tomorrow, but a leaked fundraiser invitation has revealed that she’s not going to be working for us. Collins will spend her afternoon meeting with PACs and wealthy donors while the president visits Maine in the middle of a nationwide crisis. The fundraiser will boost both Collins’ reelection campaign as well as the Maine Republican Party, which is working to reelect Trump.
Collins has years of practice dodging accountability from Maine people. She has refused to hold a town hall in Maine for more than 20 years, and for the last 536 days she has refused to even say whether she supports Trump’s reelection.
“Susan Collins has always been accessible to wealthy donors and the corporate special interests she serves in Washington but she refuses to show up for Mainers when it counts,” said Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “Tomorrow, she’ll be doing what she does best: avoiding accountability.”
