Collins has spent the last 611 days refusing to be honest with Mainers about her support for Trump
A new Senate Intelligence panel report has found that the Trump campaign’s interactions with Russian intelligence services in 2016 posed a “grave” counterintelligence threat to the United States--but Senator Susan Collins has avoided commenting on the revelation that Donald Trump, his campaign staff, and members of his family made our country vulnerable to Russian interference while continuing her 611 day long streak of refusing to say whether she supports the President’s reelection.
Trump has said that he would accept assistance from a foreign government in 2020, but despite her claims of concern about foreign interference, Senator Collins has refused to weigh in on the threat posed by the President himself. Mainers watched earlier this year when Collins voted a dozen times to block key witnesses and evidence in the impeachment trial before voting to acquit Trump on all charges--they know she can’t be trusted to hold him accountable.
Donald Trump isn’t just a “big fan” of Vladimir Putin, he’s also backing Senator Collins’ reelection “100%” because he knows she won’t lift a finger to hold him accountable and he needs her vote to continue confirming right wing judges and passing massive tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy.
“Senator Collins has chosen political convenience over honesty and integrity,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra. “In the face of overwhelming evidence that Trump’s Russia dealings put our nation at risk, she doesn’t even have the decency to tell us whether she’s voting for him. It’s time for Mainers to elect a Senator who isn’t afraid to tell us the truth.”
