Collins refused to be honest with Mainers about her support for Trump, showed that she’ll be a rubber stamp for Mitch McConnell if elected to a fifth term
Following the conclusion of the first general election debate in Maine’s US Senate race, Maine Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Marra released the following statement:
“Tonight’s debate showed Mainers that the choice in this election could not be more clear: Speaker Gideon shared how she will build on her record of delivering for Maine people, while Senator Collins doubled down on her commitment to putting corporate special interests first—and refused to own up to her support for Donald Trump.
“Even though Collins won’t say that she’s voting for Trump, it’s obvious that if reelected, she will continue to work hand in hand with Mitch McConnell to carry out Trump’s agenda of confirming extreme right wing judges, giving corporations massive tax breaks, and putting Mainers’ health care at risk. After 24 years in Washington, Senator Collins isn’t working for Maine anymore, and voters have the opportunity to replace her with a leader who’s proven she knows how to fight for us.”
