Collins has already requested an absentee ballot to vote in the presidential election, but continues to dodge questions about who she’s supporting

With tonight marking the fourth debate in the Maine Senate race, Senator Susan Collins is running out of opportunities to tell Mainers whether or not she will be voting to re-elect Donald Trump. As Election Day gets closer, it’s becoming more and more obvious that she does not plan on being honest with Mainers any time soon.

Collins has clearly made a political calculation that she doesn’t want to tell Mainers about her support for Trump, and she’s been sticking to that strategy for 676 days and counting. But one look at her record is all that’s needed to give away the game:

  • Senator Collins has consistently helped shield Trump from accountability, including voting a dozen times to block witnesses and evidence before she voted to acquit him on all charges in the Senate impeachment trial.

“Senator Collins may not tell Mainers who she’s voting for, but there’s no doubt in our minds about who she supports,” said Maine Democratic spokesperson Holly Burke. “Collins has spent the last four years as a rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s right wing agenda, and Mainers are ready to move on.”
