Collins has already requested an absentee ballot to vote in the presidential election, but continues to dodge questions about who she’s supporting

At last night’s debate, Senator Susan Collins passed up yet another opportunity to be honest with Mainers about whether she’s voting for Donald Trump. Even though she has her absentee ballot, and Election Day is less than two weeks away, Collins still is unwilling to tell Mainers who she supports for President.

For 677 straight days, and four consecutive debates, Collins has refused to admit her support for Donald Trump, and according to a new report in the New York Times, she said she “would probably avoid Mr. Trump if he campaigned in Maine” as she continues her desperate effort trying to pretend like the leader of her party doesn’t exist.

It’s obvious that Collins has decided that her best political strategy is to duck that question again and again all the way until Election Day. Fortunately for Mainers, Collins record makes it crystal clear who she supports:

  • Senator Collins has consistently helped shield Trump from accountability, including voting a dozen times to block witnesses and evidence before she voted to acquit him on all charges in the Senate impeachment trial.

“At last night’s debate, Senator Collins once again had an opportunity to be honest with Mainers about who she will be supporting for President, but she chose once again to leave us in the dark,” said Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Lisa Roberts. “Collins is hoping that if she ducks the question for long enough, Mainers won’t remember that she’s spent the last four years enabling Donald Trump’s far right agenda. Unfortunately for her, Mainers don’t forget.”
