The DNC announced today that it is granting a funding request from the Maine Democratic Party to build out a team of rural organizers across the state. These organizers will connect with rural Mainers, encourage robust voter turnout, and maintain a coordinated approach to voter engagement across Maine’s gubernatorial, congressional and state legislature campaigns. With these new roles, the Maine Democratic Party will be well-positioned for early and consistent voter outreach throughout the primary and general election cycles.
This boost to Maine’s rural organizing program comes from the DNC’s State Party Innovation Fund grant program, which is designed to promote innovation and early organizing by hiring more boots on the ground to elect Democrats up and down the ticket and across the country in 2022. With a gubernatorial race, a frontline House seat and competitive state legislature seats in Maine, this investment will help Democrats take their case directly to voters and win in November.
