Today, on the third anniversary of Donald Trump inciting a violent insurrection at the United States Capitol, Maine Democratic Party Chair Bev Uhlenhake released the following statement.
“Three years ago, Mainers watched as Donald Trump encouraged a violent mob to storm the United States Capitol and attack law enforcement in an attempt to subvert American democracy and remain in power. Throughout his presidency, Trump continuously assaulted the foundations of our Constitutional republic, and on January 6, 2021, he pushed our nation to the brink and placed the great American experiment in danger. Now, candidate Trump is threatening to throw our nation into chaos once again.”
“As Mainers, and as Americans, we value our democracy and freedoms and want them strengthened, not attacked. The stakes could not be higher this November and we will continue fighting to defend freedom and democracy for all Mainers.”
