Leadership Elections. Sunday, January 26, 2025.

 

On January 26th, members of the Maine Democratic State Committee (DSC) will meet to elect a State Party Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer. The DSC will also elect at-large members to serve on standing committees, including the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, and Grievance Committee. Only current DSC members are eligible to vote in Democratic leadership elections.

However, any person enrolled as a Democrat in the State of Maine is eligible to run for these positions. Individuals intending to run must notify the Maine Democratic Party by emailing partyaffairs@mainedems.org no later than 5:00pm on Friday, January 17, 2025. See below for additional information on becoming a candidate.

Committees

  • Executive Committee: five (5) at-large members
  • Finance Committee: five (5) at-large members
  • Grievance Committee: two (2) members and one (1) alternate from each Congressional District

 

Candidate Criteria

  • Any person enrolled as a Democrat in the State of Maine is eligible to run for these positions.
  • The Chair and Vice Chair shall not be of the same gender.
  • Elected DSC officers serve as ex-officio members of the Executive Committee and are not eligible to run for voting membership of a standing committee.

 

Becoming a Candidate

  • Any person enrolled as a Democrat in the State of Maine who wishes to appear on the Ballot for any elected office must notify the Maine Democratic Party by emailing partyaffairs@mainedems.org no later than 5:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2025.
  • All candidates must include their name and the town in which they are registered to vote. Candidates for Chair and Vice Chair must also state their gender identity.
  • Candidates who have submitted their name for the ballot by the deadline have the right to prepare one supporting e-mail message for timely distribution to all DSC members. This supporting e-mail must be submitted by the candidate to partyaffairs@mainedems.org with the subject line: “Candidate Statement: [CANDIDATE’S NAME]” no later than 5:00 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Please do not wait until the last minute!
