Augusta, Maine — Today, Republican gubernatorial candidate Bobby Charles is speaking to reporters about energy costs, a legitimate and growing concern for Mainers across the state. The catch? Charles has a record that says he’d just make it worse.
He supports Trump’s war in Iran that’s driving up gas and diesel prices and could impact heating oil costs. Despite the impact of Trump’s tariffs on Mainers, Charles has repeatedly defended Trump’s tariff policies. And Charles supports Trump’s budget law that has led to skyrocketing health care premiums and fewer Mainers enrolling in care.
Statement from Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson:
“Bobby Charles is in lock-step with the harmful Trump and MAGA economy that continues to raise energy costs for Mainers. If Bobby Charles was serious about lowering costs, he wouldn’t support Trump’s reckless agenda that includes higher prices for gas, groceries, and health care. A Charles governorship would be disastrous for Maine families’ pocketbooks.”
