Ice Resources
Maine Democrats
ICE enforcement has expanded across Maine. The resources below can help you prepare, respond, and look out for your neighbors.
Emergency Hotline
The 3 things to remember
1. You have the right to remain silent. ICE does not have to read you Miranda rights — you must invoke them yourself.
2. You have the right to ask, “Am I free to leave?” If they say yes, walk away calmly.
3. ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge. An ICE-issued “warrant of removal” is not enough.
Reporting ICE
Report ICE or Border Patrol activity, get connected to verifiers, legal aid, and detainee support. Text the number with SALUTE information unless ICE is at your door — then call.
S — Size How many agents? How many vehicles?
A — Activity What are they doing? Knocking on doors, sitting in a parked car, making an arrest, setting up a checkpoint?
L — Location Exact address or intersection. Cross streets help. Inside a building, parking lot, on the street?
U — Uniform What are they wearing? Plain clothes, tactical gear, vests labeled “ICE” / “POLICE” / “HSI” / “ERO” / “Border Patrol”? Masks?
T — Time When did you see them? Are they still there?
E — Equipment Vehicles (make, model, color, plate if safe to get), weapons visible, body cams, K-9s, unmarked vans?
