DEIB Committee
Maine Democrats
What is the DEIB Committee?
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee works to ensure the Maine Democratic Party’s actions reflect its values of justice and equity. Made up of members with deep expertise, the committee guides both internal practices and external efforts to build a more inclusive, representative party. As a permanent body, it helps ensure that anti-racism and inclusion remain central to the party’s work, regardless of changes in leadership or staff.
DEIB Committee Members
- Ellie Sato, Chair
- Ina Demers, Vice Chair
- Joe Zamboni, Recording Secretary
- Lisa Clark, Corresponding Secretary
- Denise Spear, Treasurer
The DEIB committee meets at 5:30pm on the last Thursday of the month. You can register to attend using the button below.
Countering Voter Suppression in Maine
To quote Stacey Abrams, “Voter suppression is the lazy man’s way to win an election.” Unfortunately, it’s a primary GOP tactic around the country and right here in Maine.
These voter suppression efforts are designed to make it harder for voters to exercise their legal right to vote– especially for Black, brown, and young voters.
The Maine Democratic Party is committed to protecting that right, operating a Voter Protection Hotline and deploying hundreds of trained poll observers across the state during even-year elections.
(And if you’re wondering about whether voting matters, Stacey Abrams has some powerful thoughts.)
