Collins cast a decisive vote to greenlight Medicaid cuts
OBBBA is projected to slash federal Medicaid funding in Maine by $3 billion over the next decade, cuts health care for 49,000 Mainers and spikes health care costs for 53,000 more
Augusta, Maine – In a new ad released today, Shady Susan Collins’ campaign claims she “vot[ed] against the bill to cut Medicaid.”
FACT CHECK: Collins cast the “key” and “pivotal” vote that advanced the Republican plan to gut Medicaid and rip health insurance away from Mainers, knowing it would pass, so Republicans could hand out massive tax breaks to wealthy corporations and the richest Americans.
Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson:
“Shady Susan Collins is lying to Mainers about her vote to advance the largest Medicaid cuts in American history. The fact is, Collins greenlit the GOP Medicaid cuts – knowing they would pass – allowing Republicans to hand out massive tax breaks to billionaires, while 49,000 Mainers lose their health care. Mainers know exactly where Collins stands and are ready to hold her accountable.”
