Augusta, ME – This week, after Susan Collins’ campaign was rocked by revelations that one of her campaign chairs is a former member of the Oath Keepers – a far-right group that played a major role in the January 6th insurrection – Collins has yet to answer for appointing him to represent her campaign in Greenville.

While Troy Jackson held three town halls last week and is barnstorming the state, Collins is continuing her 25 year streak of not holding a town hall, and questions from Mainers are piling up.

Misha Linnehan, spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“One week after it was exposed that Susan Collins appointed a former member of the Oath Keepers to represent her campaign, Collins has failed to tell Mainers why she is cozying up to far-right militia members. This comes after she voted 96% of the time with Trump. Mainers deserve to hear why she chose an extremist to represent her campaign to voters.”

Mainers deserve to know:

1. Last week, a Daily Beast report revealed that Collins appointed a former member of the Oath Keepers, a far-right militia group that helped plan the January 6th insurrection. Why did Susan Collins appoint this known far-right extremist to a leadership role within her campaign?
   

2. While Collins has recently suggested that she doesn’t support the President’s current strategy in Iran, she voted five times against resolutions that could have stopped the war. Does Collins regret voting to allow Trump continue the war?
   
   

3. Reporting in April found that Collins, whose husband owns up to $100,000 in oil and gas stock and who voted five times against ending the Iran War, had profited up to $25,000 as gas prices soared due to Trump’s war. As the Iran war stretches into its sixth month and Maine families continue to be squeezed by high gas prices, how much cash has Collins made on her oil and gas stock? Doesn’t she think it’s a conflict of interest to profit off the war?
   

4. Collins’ former lobbyist husband received at least $1,000 from his former lobbying firm last year. What work did he do for the firm, and does Collins think it’s a conflict of interest given the company has clients who are her campaign donors and have business in front of her?

5. Last month, Collins held a fundraiser with far-right MAGA Senator Tom Cotton. How many more fundraisers with out-of-state, far-right, anti-abortion politicians does Collins have scheduled?
