Democrats Hold Biddeford ICE Field Hearing as Collins Refuses to Conduct Trump Admin Oversight

Augusta, ME – Today, after Democrats held a field hearing in Biddeford on ICE’s killing of Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero, Misha Linnehan, spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party released the following statement on Susan Collins’ continued refusal to conduct oversight of the Trump Administration:

“After voting to give ICE $70 billion in funding with no guardrails, Susan Collins is refusing to use her power in the Senate to hold the Trump Administration accountable for putting Mainers in danger. As Trump’s ICE terrorizes Maine communities and his illegal and costly war with Iran rages on, Collins still has not held a single oversight hearing, allowing this administration to continue acting with unchecked impunity.”

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT COLLINS’ FAILURES TO PROTECT MAINERS FROM TRUMP’S ICE:

  • Last year, Collins provided a “key,” “pivotal vote” to fund Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill that massively funded ICE.

  • This year, she voted this year to provide them with $70 billion more in funding with no guardrails.

  • She also voted against an amendment that would have required ICE agents to wear body cameras.
