Charles doubled down on his plan to take Mainers off MaineCare and his support for Trump’s budget law — then claimed the exact opposite less than 24 hours later.

Augusta, Maine — No matter how many times he tweets or shamelessly tries to shape shift, Bobby Charles can not hide the fact that he is running for Governor to take away MaineCare.

After spending his campaign calling for new restrictions that would make it harder for Mainers to access MaineCare and supporting Donald Trump’s budget law that is driving up health care costs for Mainers, Charles is suddenly pretending to want to protect MaineCare.

The most audacious part? Bobby Charles just doubled down on his anti-health care positions YESTERDAY.

Less than 24 hours later, he’s asking Mainers to ignore his own words and believe the exact opposite. It’s not going to work.

This is just the latest attempt to deceive voters about his positions. He also falsely claims to oppose Trump’s tariffs after repeatedly praising them, even saying “Trump is doing the right thing on tariffs.”

And let’s not forget Charles’ plan to slash the state budget by $4 billion, which would devastate healthcare and other essential government services. Even his fellow Republicans called his budget plan reckless.

Bobby Charles also boasts about his plans to fire half of the civil servants working at DHHS, who are a critical part of running and maintaining MaineCare.

“Bobby Charles is delusional if he believes that Mainers will fall for his bold faced lie. Just yesterday, he doubled down on his support for policies that would take health care away from Mainers. Today, he’s pretending to support MaineCare. Bobby Charles is a sly DC lobbyist who will do and say anything to get elected. But Mainers will see through it and elect Hannah Pingree for governor.”  

Charles’ shameless lies come after three polls show him trailing Hannah Pingree. With a struggling campaign that’s running out of resources, it’s no wonder he’s desperately trying to reinvent himself and lie about his record on health care.
