Maine Democratic Party Statement on Hannah Pingree as the Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee

Augusta, Maine — Hannah Pingree won the Democratic gubernatorial primary. Devon Murphy-Anderson, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Hannah Pingree on her victory in the Democratic gubernatorial primary. Hannah is a proven and effective leader with a track record of delivering results that matter for Mainers. As the youngest woman in the country ever elected Speaker of the House, she showed early on that she knows how to bring people together, take on tough challenges, and get things done.

“Hannah has consistently fought to strengthen Maine’s economy, lower costs for working families, and stand up to powerful corporations when Mainers were getting left behind. Her leadership and experience make clear that she is ready to serve as governor on day one. At a time when Mainers are looking for steady, effective leadership focused on affordability and opportunity, Democrats are united and ready to win this November with Hannah Pingree on the ticket.”
