Matt Dunlap Wins CD-2 Debate, Exposes LePage’s Record on Social Security

Augusta, Maine – Following tonight’s debate in Maine’s Second Congressional District race between Democratic nominee Matt Dunlap and Republican nominee Paul LePage, Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson released the following statement:

“Tonight, Matt Dunlap made clear what’s at stake in this election: protecting Social Security, lowering costs, and standing up for Mainers.

“Paul LePage can try to run from his record, but Mainers haven’t forgotten that he vetoed Medicaid expansion six times, called Social Security and Medicare ‘welfare,’ and repeatedly put wealthy special interests ahead of working families.

“Tonight’s debate showed once again why Matt Dunlap is the clear choice for the Second District. While LePage is stuck defending his record, Matt is focused on the challenges Mainers are facing today and fighting to make sure they can afford to live, work, and retire in the communities they call home.”
