MDP Announces Candidates Certified to Participate in U.S. Senate Nominating Convention

Augusta, Maine – Today, the Maine Democratic Party completed its verification of petition signatures submitted by prospective candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

The filing deadline for Democratic candidates seeking the party’s nomination for U.S. Senate closed at 11:59 p.m. ET last night.

The following candidates have qualified to appear on the ballot at the Maine Democratic Party’s Nominating Convention:

  • David Costello

  • Troy Jackson

  • Dan Kleban

  • Saundra Pelletier

Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson released the following statement:

“Today’s certification marks another important milestone in this open, transparent, and inclusive nominating process. We look forward to hearing directly from these candidates and bringing Democrats from every corner of Maine together on Saturday to choose the strongest nominee to defeat Susan Collins. We’re grateful to everyone who stepped forward to run and to the thousands of Mainers who have participated in this process every step of the way.”

The Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate will be selected at the Maine Democratic Party’s Nominating Convention on Saturday, July 25, where delegates from all 16 counties will cast their votes.
