Augusta, ME – Today, Sen. Cassidy announced his support for Todd Blanche, ensuring that he will have the votes to be confirmed as Attorney General. In response, Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Misha Linnehan released the following statement:

“Mainers know this game – Susan Collins conveniently opposing a Trump nominee because she knows he has the votes to be confirmed without her. Trump endorsed Susan Collins because she always votes with him when he needs it – after all, she voted with Trump 96% of the time, including for some of his most extreme, right-wing nominees. Maine deserves a Senator who will actually stand up to Trump’s harmful agenda.”

Collins has supported the vast majority of Trump’s nominees, including those who have undermined public health, refused to acknowledge the reality of the 2020 election, and numerous anti-choice federal judges – including Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.
