More Than 1,000 Mainers Sign Up for MDP Volunteer Kickoff with Troy Jackson

Surge of grassroots enthusiasm comes ahead of major weekend of action across Maine

Augusta, Maine – More than 1,000 Mainers signed up to join the Maine Democratic Party’s official volunteer kickoff call with Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Troy Jackson Tuesday evening, as Maine Democrats ramp up their organizing operation to elect Jackson and defeat Susan Collins in November.

The call brought together volunteers from across the state ready to knock doors, make calls, and organize in their communities ahead of November.

The kickoff comes as Maine Democrats prepare for a major weekend of action, with volunteers organizing across the state to talk directly with voters about the stakes of this election and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

Maine Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign Director Kayla vanWieringen released the following statement:

“More than 1,000 people signing up to get involved with Troy and elect Democrats up and down the ballot sends a pretty clear message: Maine Democrats are fired up and ready to win.

“Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen an incredible amount of energy from Democrats across Maine, and now we’re putting that energy to work. We’re building a community-focused organizing operation that has what it takes to win with volunteers ready to get to work in every corner of the state, and a Senate nominee who knows how to fight for working Mainers.

“This weekend, volunteers across Maine will be knocking doors, making calls, and talking to their neighbors about what’s at stake in November. We’re building the grassroots operation it will take to elect Troy Jackson, defeat Susan Collins, and deliver wins for Democrats across the state.”
