• MAGA Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and Fox News contributor and former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich both separately sent personalized fundraising emails on behalf of Susan Collins’ re-election campaign last week, once again undermining the Collins claim of moderation in the face of Democratic challenger Troy Jackson for her Maine Senate seat.

• Both Cruz and Gingrich are anti-choice extremists and hyper Trump loyalists.

• In the emails, both Gingrich and Cruz stress the importance of Collins winning in order to maintain Republican control of the Senate for the final two years of the Donald Trump presidency. Both emails tell Republicans that Jackson is up by two points in the latest polling, and their support is crucial for Collins’ victory.

• Cruz and Collins are also sharing a joint fundraising page on the Republican Party fundraising site WinRed.

• The MAGA fundraising emails for Collins also follow an exclusive event for Collins’ re-election co-hosted by extremist Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton in July. Cotton has made racist statements that slavery in the U.S. was a good thing, and he voted against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

• The July 24 fundraiser event was held for Collins with Cotton listed as a “Special Guest” that was hosted by key Trump-backers Dr. John and Jennifer Wahlig, and co-hosted by 35 people, including MAGA donors Peter Anastos, Joe Bruno, and Margaret Fenderson.

• Susan Collins is running for her sixth term in the U.S. Senate this November. She has attempted to cultivate an image of a moderate Republican over the years, up to and including voting against the confirmation of Todd Blanche to be Attorney General.

• But Collins has repeatedly been a reliable vote for Donald Trump’s agenda. So much so that key MAGA influencers have reassured Republicans nervous about re-electing her that Collins is firmly in Donald Trump’s pocket, and is vital to the right-wing extremist agenda of the Republican Party in Congress.
