Augusta, ME – Today, Susan Collins voted for a stock trading bill that non-partisan watchdogs say is a “joke” and “spineless” that “fails to solve the core ethical problems” of Congressional stock trading. Misha Linnehan, spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party released the following statement:
“Throughout her career, Shady Susan Collins has repeatedly opposed bans on Congressional stock trading while her former lobbyist husband’s investment portfolio ballooned. Her vote for a spineless bill will do nothing to distract Mainers from the corruption scandal swirling around her.”

Collins failed seven times to support a ban on members of Congress becoming lobbyists.
While Mainers struggle with rising costs, Collins’ wealth has grown by millions since coming to D.C.– in 2024 alone, her stock portfolio grew by nearly 80%. Collins also violated the STOCK Act by failing to report her husband’s stock trades at least 25 times, on transactions with a value of up to $445,000.
She remains the only member of the Maine delegation to oppose fully ending congressional stock trading.
Collins voted five times against resolutions that could have ended the Iran War. Meanwhile, Collins’ stock portfolio has surged – she and her husband hold up to $115,000 in natural gas stocks, which have potentially raked in thousands more for the couple since the war began.
Susan Collins’s former lobbyist husband holds hundreds of thousands of dollars in stocks in pharma and defense companies that Collins oversees — and she ran from questions on her conflicts of interest.
And just last week, revelations surfaced that Collins had engaged in a pay-to-play scheme so brazen that the FBI was circling her campaign before Trump gutted the unit in charge of stopping public corruption.
