Augusta, ME – Today, Vice President JD Vance downplayed ICE’s killing of Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford and callously told the Mainers “who are so worried about that situation” to “have a little bit of perspective.” Mainers deserve to know if Susan Collins agrees.
During his speech in Brewer, Vance called Collins “a dear friend” who is doing “an amazing job.” Collins has voted with Trump 96% of the time, including to give ICE $70 billion in funding with no guardrails and against funding for body cameras.
In response to Vance’s comments, Misha Linnehan, spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party, released the following statement:
“Susan Collins voted to give Donald Trump and JD Vance $70 billion to send armed ICE agents into Maine with no guardrails. Now that a man has been killed, JD Vance thinks Mainers need to ‘have a little bit of perspective’ about children losing their father and a wife losing her husband – does Susan Collins agree?”
