Update from the Maine Democratic Party on the US Senate Nomination Process

Statement from Maine Democratic Party Chair, Charlie Dingman:

“The people of Maine deserve an open and transparent process to select a new Democratic nominee for the United States Senate. Tonight, we are proud to announce that individuals may now submit their Declaration of Intent to seek the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate.

“Our guiding principle has been to create a process that reflects the values Mainers hold, while giving prospective candidates the greatest possible opportunity to connect with the voters they hope to represent, within the very tight timeframe allowed by law.

“To those who choose to step forward and run, thank you in advance for your willingness to serve the people of Maine and for the time, energy, and dedication you will invest in your campaigns.

“To the people of Maine: thank you for your patience, your engagement, and your faith in this process. And to everyone across the country who has offered their support: thank you for standing with us.

“Democracy is not always simple, and it is not always easy. But it is always worth fighting for.”
