Augusta, ME – This week, Maine Democrats held a press conference outside of Susan Collins’ office, spotlighting the bombshell revelations that the FBI was circling her for being involved in a pay-to-play scheme before the Trump Administration stepped in. At the presser, Maine Democrats delivered Collins a copy of the illegal donation check her Super PAC received from the Navatek CEO shortly before his company received $8 million in federal funding.

WGME: Maine Democrats continue to keep bribery claims against Sen. Collins in spotlight
Democrats continue to put bribery claims against Senator Susan Collins in the spotlight.
They held a news conference outside the Collins office in Portland Thursday with a giant printout of a check.
It’s an image ProPublica claims is of a $150,000 payment a government contractor made to a Collins super PAC through a shell company, that even had a typo: the “Society of Young Women Scientist,” not “Scientists,” a typo that led to an investigation into the donation.
“So today, we brought Senator Collins a gift,” former Second Congressional District candidate Jordan Wood said. “This is a copy of the $150,000 check that her super PAC, run by her close associate Scott Reed, solicited and accepted from a shell company that Martin Kao created while he was seeking millions in federal funding for his company.”

…Democrats continued to criticize Sen. Susan Collins for alleged corruption between her campaign, an affiliated super PAC and a Hawaiian defense contractor, Navatek, recently reported on by ProPublica.
Former congressional staffer and unsuccessful candidate for Senate and Congress, Jordan Wood, led the demonstration outside Collins’ Portland office.
“It’s offensive that Senator Collins would betray Mainers by steering federal dollars to a campaign donor instead of using that power and those resources to fight for our state,” Wood said.
Collins denies any wrongdoing, and the federal investigators inquiring into the connection between Navatek and Collins were fired by the Trump Administration before completing their investigation, according to ProPublica.
