ICYMI: Out-of-State MAGA Billionaire Dumps $1.3 Million Into Maine GOP Primary to Boost Garrett Mason

Augusta, Maine — This morning, the Bangor Daily News highlighted the increased spending Illinois-based MAGA billion Richard Uihlein is investing to buy Garrett Mason the gubernatorial race. Restoration of America PAC is currently investing $1.3 million to boost Mason in a primary that continues to become a race to the right.

Richard Uihlein is an anti-abortion extremist who gave $49 million to Donald Trump and MAGA affiliated PACs in 2024 and has supported far-right, anti-choice candidates like Ted Cruz, Lauren Boebert, Josh Hawley, and now Garrett Mason.

Maine Democratic Party executive director Devon Murphy-Anderson released the following statement:

“Richard Uihlein isn’t funding Garrett Mason because he cares about Maine’s working families or small businesses. He’s spending $1.3 million to drag our state backward and buy a governor who will rubber-stamp the same extreme, anti-choice and pro-Trump agenda he bankrolls across the country.

“Garrett Mason is relying on MAGA megadonors to win his primary. This Republican primary isn’t about who will fight for Maine families. It’s about which candidate can prove they’re most loyal to Trump and get MAGA billionaire donors to bankroll their campaign.

“Mainers will reject whichever MAGA candidate claws their way out of this primary.”

Garrett Mason earned the Uihlein support by being the proven anti-choice candidate in this race with a long track record of working to restrict abortion rights in Maine.
