Caucus turnout surges nearly 18% as voters signal they’re ready to win in 2026

Augusta, Maine — The Maine Democratic Party today announced a powerful showing of grassroots energy at its 2026 Democratic Caucuses, with 3,500 Democrats turning out across 83 locations — a 17.3% increase over 2024 — signaling strong momentum heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

“This past weekend’s turnout sends a clear message,” said Devon Murphy-Anderson, Executive Director of the Maine Democratic Party. “Democrats across Maine are fired up and organized. We know what’s at stake in 2026 and voters are showing up now to protect our values and fight for Maine’s working families.The enthusiasm we saw in caucus rooms from Waldoboro to Fairfield to Rockland proves that our party is energized, united and ready to win.”

Caucus-goers gathered in communities large and small to connect with neighbors, hear from local and statewide candidates, and kick off organizing for the cycle ahead. Participation jumped by nearly 18% compared to 2024, reflecting a growing coalition of voters, a slate of Democratic candidates dedicated to showing up in Maine’s communities across the state, and a formidable state party.
