Augusta, Maine – Following the results of Maine’s Second Congressional District race, Maine Democratic Party Chair Charlie Dingman released the following statement:
“Matt Dunlap ran a campaign focused on the issues that matter most to Mainers: lowering costs, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and making sure working families have a fair shot.
“Throughout this race, Matt traveled across the Second District, listened to voters, and made clear that he would always put the people of Maine ahead of wealthy special interests. He brought integrity, experience, and a deep commitment to public service to this campaign, and we are incredibly proud to have stood alongside him.
“I want to thank Matt, his campaign team, and the countless volunteers who knocked doors, made calls, and worked tirelessly to get our message out. Their dedication to this state and the people who call it home is something we can all be proud of.
“While the result is not what we had hoped for, our work to protect Social Security, lower costs, and stand up for working families is far from over. Maine Democrats will continue fighting for the people of the Second District and for a future where every Mainer has the opportunity to get ahead.”
