JD Vance was in Brewer this weekend and had plenty of praise for Bobby Charles, enthusiastically endorsing him for governor.

Vance said Charles has “been an amazing fighter for the state of Maine. And he’s going to make a more amazing governor.” This came months after Charles flew to DC to beg for Trump’s endorsement.

Charles has since been desperately trying to rebrand and distance himself from Trump, but this week’s endorsement put the final period in his rebrand failure.  

Skipping a Housing Forum – What’s his plan?

While Hannah was talking about how to make housing more affordable and accessible for Maine families, Bobby Charles apparently had somewhere else to be.

The Maine Affordable Housing Coalition hosted a gubernatorial housing forum, and Charles was the only candidate who didn’t show up.

Hannah used the forum to lay out a comprehensive plan to tackle Maine’s housing crisis, including helping homeless veterans find stable housing and cutting red tape to make housing more available and affordable for all Mainers.

Charles, meanwhile, chose not to show up and explain what he would do.

Bobby Charles was caught on audio tape talking about inviting Trump’s ICE to Maine, underscoring how close Charles is to the Trump and MAGA agenda.

This drew swift outrage both in state and nationally, ranging from local leaders and groups like Maine AFL-CIO and even a CA senator – noticeably still no comment from Susan Collins.

A Senior Problem: Charles’ Extreme Positions on Older Mainers Come Under Scrutiny

Today, Maine Democrats held a press conference calling on Bobby Charles to resign from his prominent role with the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC). Charles has repeatedly appeared as a national spokesperson for the organization, which supports raising the normal retirement age for Social Security from 67 to 70. This would have a devastating impact for Maine seniors.

The press conference featured Dr. Nirav Shah, retired family doctor and former state legislator Dr. Linda Sanborn, and advocate and former Associate State Director of Advocacy at AARP John Hennessy.
