Augusta, Maine – Serving as the deciding vote, Susan Collins just gave Donald Trump and Senate Republicans the green light to advance her party’s toxic reconciliation bill that will have grave impacts on Mainers. Instead of heeding the call of Mainers who urged her to reject the bill and stop it from proceeding, Collins didn’t “let the Republicans down,” just like MAGA voices said she wouldn’t.

Here is just a sample of what is in the bill Collins voted to allow:

• 51,000 Mainers will lose their health care coverage

• 31,000 Mainers – including children – could go hungry due to cuts to SNAP programs

• 40,000 Mainers will lose assistance to heat their homes

• Thousands of Maine fishermen will lose their MaineCare, thanks to Collins explicit support for Medicaid cut provisions

• Maine hospitals will be shuttered

• $3.8 trillion will be added to the national debt, in order to pay for tax giveaways to billionaires

• And more.
