Collins Call Out: Approps Chair Collins Declares “Not My Call” When Asked About Details of Funding Bill

Augusta, Maine – Yesterday, Appropriations Chair Susan Collins said it is “obviously not my call,” when asked for details about the length an appropriations funding bill would cover.

This is in stark contrast to her past statements that she chairs “the most powerful committee in Congress,” and that she would “shape the fiscal priorities of our country.”

Collins Now:

Collins Then:

  • “I’m very grateful for this opportunity to help shape the fiscal priorities of our country.” [FOX ABC Maine, 11/26/24]

  • “It is the Appropriations Committee, […]It’s the most powerful committee in Congress. I’ve worked my way up in the committee, and it has jurisdiction over all discretionary spending.” [WGAN, 9/22/24]
