Collins Call Out: Collins’ Blatant Attempt to Distance from ICE Funding She Supported

Augusta, Maine – Today, Susan Collins tried to score political points by voting to redirect money from ICE to Medicaid — after she was a “key” “pivotal vote” to advancing the bill that stripped money from Medicaid in the first place. This comes after she spent weeks refusing to hold the Trump administration accountable as ICE spreads fear in Maine communities, and continues to support Kristi Noem. Collins has also led the charge on a DHS funding bill without any additional reforms or accountability.

Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Kristi Johnston:

“Not only did Susan Collins greenlight the original bill that stripped funding from Medicaid, she has been leading the charge to pass even more ICE funding with no reforms and no accountability, and is standing firmly behind Kristi Noem. As always, Collins is trying to save face after she has already caused harm to Mainers.”
